A Mystery
A secretive man
He had few friends
A life of mystery he led
Until one day,
He was found dead
Marks on his neck
His body, a wreck
He was a sight to see
For all who came to sneak a peak
A searched ensued
Police pursued
No evidence was found
His life was snuffed out
Without leaving a clue
Quite a conundrum
the police were in
They didn’t know
where to begin
An enigma of a case
Causing them much disgrace
They needed an outside
pair of eyes
To come help analyze
A call was placed
She came in haste
To investigate
Masterful at her job
She re-examined the scene
Before taking a trip to the morgue
Where his body was still stored
‘Even the dead tells stories’,
her mom used to say
For she was a homicide detective too in her day
His body was the only clue she needed
Even though it was still in many pieces
Hours passed
Days too
In the back of her mind, she had already figured out the crime
The only case she had never solved
The only case she had yet to resolve
A killer so vicious
Committing crimes so horrific
It left those stunned who had witnessed
This time would be different
She would catch this killer
And put that person away
Once and for all
So he would never again slay
The souls of those who were lost
