POEM STARTER

‘Until finally, the chill stopped.’

Write a poem that closes with this line.

The Thaw

As the snow falls gently from the sky I watch from my window, feeling the cold It wraps itself around me like a shroud Draining the warmth from my soul I shiver and shake, trying to stay warm But the chill seems to seep into my bones It feels like I'm caught in an endless storm Trapped in this frozen world alone But then, as the night wears on I see a glimmer of light in the distance The storm clouds begin to dissipate And the snow starts to resist The sun breaks through the clouds And the world is bathed in its glow The snowflakes dance in the air And the world is fresh and new The chill starts to dissipate As the warmth of the sun surrounds me I feel my spirits lift Until finally, the chill stopped
