STORY STARTER
The Leaf and the Wind
Write a story documenting the thought processes of a leaf on a tree on a dangerously windy day.
Will I Fall?
Will I fall today? I am not sure. I know that I am destined to fall. One day. Probably sooner than later. After all, I have already changed color. But that is the problem, isn’t it. I am the most beautiful right before I fall to the ground. Right before I wither and die. Of course, I still have a little life in me now. Enough to know that I am not ready to fall. I am not ready to be dust. Not just yet. Just a little longer. Just cling to the tree. Cling to life a little longer.
But the wind is so strong. The gusts tear at my stem. They make it tough to cling. They make it tough to remember that I still have life in me. I still have a job to do. I still have color. I still want to soak up the sun. I still want to reflect my color for all to see. I still want to shine. I still want to shine. I still want to shine.
Will I fall today? Will I get ripped from the tree by the storm? I do not know. I just know that as long as I cling to the tree, I will shine. I will shine bright for all to see. And even when I fall, I will still shine for all to see. Even if I fall today.
