The Glance Back

From the edge of the wall to the edge of the counter, the bathroom mirror alines with the sink. Fog clouds the shower and in the reflection he stands bold and bare with nothing but a towel on his waste. Loud footsteps creep into his ears as the banging begins to get louder. With the door now rattling his body is motionless. His ears are deaf while his name is repeated. It's been hours and no one has seen him sense his return from work. The job no one takes for known reasons but no explanation.

The graveyard runs all night until his shift ends at 4:30am. Kyle didn't mind until about a week, not that the job area was new but that specific job he avoided. Sounds came from sewers on his walk home. The invisible footsteps behind him became unbearable to walkthrough with only the lights of a new moon. something watched him for days after days. It was clearly hurting his mental more then even he knew. The bathroom mirror showed the restlessness of the souls who peel eyelids to count Kyle's footsteps. They pounded louder and louder on the door until it was heard throughout the halls. "Kyle come on the water is running and it's been too long." Suddenly his eyes grow wide and focus on the voice he just heard, the one of his dead roommate.

His heart beats through his ears as his feet scramble and pace the rug in the middle of the floor. He turns off the water hoping to hear his voice once again. The voice he's missed for years but couldn't come to erase. the mirror he stared into is steamed up and with the swipe of his hand he gazes again into the eyes he's never seen before.

He hears again the same roommate complain about the time spent "Come on man,It's been too long". His eyes squeeze shut to silence the noise. He opens his eyes and this time he lifts his head shaking with fear. Fear of who would b in the mirror. Fear of what would face him..

His eyes went white as black and red veins flowed beneath them. Hard bangs on the door makes him jump back into the shower and he hears another voice. "Oh my god are you okay? I didn't mean to scare you but the water is coming from the door. You need to come out." This voice he's comforted with is his girlfriends. She's not mad but more concerned with what he's doing.Slowly the door unlocks and his head appears from behind the door. she reached out to him only to see that his hair and body are wet but his expression was dry, Blank, Plain. No words were thrown but all he could think about was who it was that glanced back.
