STORY STARTER

Create a scene about the scenario that causes your main character to cry for the first time during adulthood.

Remember their tears don't have to be from sadness.

Lost Love

Watching couples stroll past me in the rain, wishing I had someone to carry my umbrella.

No, this was not your typical romantic scenario.

No, I would not no longer feel the rain dripping down my back and look up to see a handsome young man smiling down at me.

No, I was not going to be fine with it.

I was going to watch the rain drench my boots as I stared down.

Hoping, dreaming for someone to love.

For someone to love me.

I had told myself that I would move to the city

That I would become CEO of a large company.

That I would find true love.

That I wouldn’t cry.

But you can't just tell yourself something.

Especially something that isn’t true.

I was only young.

I didn’t know what I was doing.

It had only been a week and I was already sad.

I couldn’t tell myself to stop anymore.

I couldn’t tell myself anything.

When my teardrop hit a puddle, I saw the ripples.

I saw myself.

Crying.

Alone.

Forgotten.

I would not let myself be forgotten.

But that wasn’t my choice.
