POEM STARTER
Inspired by BlueInk
"You loved me so fiercely that I burned; now, you'll only be left with ashes."
Write a poem that contains this line. You may modify it as you see fit, but the sentiment should remain similar to the original quote.
A House Is Not A Home
They say you can always move into different houses but they will never feel like home. You may think that you’ll be able to roam and find another but you’ll see the sky gloam and the stars remind you of freckles that her skin adorns.
But don’t run from love because it isn’t in her form.
Stay because they are different.
Your heart may still be torn but it will always be. Because it’s shattered pieces will swarm to lights like moths in a warm night. However, light is temporary.
After the light leaves you will be left with only darkness. With her love out of sight you continue to fight for unconditional love.
Something she gave you but you didn’t give her.
You loved me so fiercely that I burned; now you’ll only be left with ashes.
You thought you knew what was best for me, instead you left my heart full of gashes.
Now as I sit here, tears trickling down my face and my lashes tickling my cheeks softly at the close,
I still think about you. What are you thinking about?
‘You should’ve been more affectionate’
‘You should’ve not been so cruel’
‘You should’ve been able to see her in all of her glory, even on her worst days.‘
Regret. It is something that can come easily, but is hard to let go of. It is haunting.
But not as haunting as the memories of you and me.
In the home we have built together, memories fill the walls and as the days go by, the cracks continue to spread.
And one day all that will be left is a pile of remains of our love.
You did this to us.
I hope you regret it.
