“Your quakes have gone too far this year, Earth. Far too many lives has been lost,” Water said with anger.

All seated around a table there was the rulers of the elements: Water, Fire, Earth, and Air.

Earth huffed. “Like your tsunami off the coast of Japan was any better. And I can’t help it! The humans just make me so angry, digging into me for resources.”

“Was there anything good this year? Something that helped?” Air asked around the table. Although she is always chipper she appeared to be extra joyful this year.

“My fires helped to renew the soil around many farmers land. Although a few fires did get out of control, water was very helpful.” Fire said.

“Of course, I was helpful! Balance. And the sea life is thriving.”

“Oh good! This summer, my wind was most appreciated. And in the winter I kept the fires going!” Air giggled.

“Yes you are also helpful, Air. Thank you.” Fire said.

“Earth was also helpful with growing new trees! So vital for fire.” Air said.

“Hmph. Thanks Air.”

“Most welcome! So for next year, less quakes, less Tsunamis, and more controlled fires. This is the easiest meeting we’ve had in a decade!”

“But also, less wind around the fires as well. Helps to not spread so much. “ Fire said with a pointed look at Air.

Air pouted. “All right, all right. I have clouds to move around. Are we in agreement to adjourn?”

They all agreed. One by one they each rose from the table and went to their respective homes. The elements continued to make the planet grow and thrive.
