Granny Helen

A face. But not just a face. If you really look, you’ll start to notice the small things.

The lines that cover the face, weren’t there once before. They’re not just lines though.

The crows feet underneath her eyes, shows that she had lots of laughter through the years.

The forehead wrinkles tell me that she was a mother, always nagging for the better. Even though you didn’t realise it at the time! They also indicate that she was a deep thinker and maybe sometimes she frowned.

The wrinkles around her mouth, shows how much she smiled. A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.

You see each wrinkle tells a journey, as my granny said to me: “When you grow old, do you want the happy wrinkles or the unhappy wrinkles”

The eyes, they tell you everything if you pay close attention.

They are the windows to the soul.

They tell me, that although my granny had a hard life in some parts, she had a soulful journey and a happy life. They show how proud she is of what she has created.

They show how much love she held for so many.
