POEM STARTER
Submitted by Margaret Sok
“You’ve come back, but I no longer need you.”
Write a poem or short story including this line.
You. Are. Forgotten.
I am over you.
You are not 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥.
I have fogotten you like the ocean has forgotten all the souls it’s drowned.
I buried you in my depths, in the safety of darkness.
I will never look at you again.
You are as invisible as my hope. Vanishing just as quickly as it came.
You are gone. You are over. I am done.
I obssesed over you— then I misjudged you.
You may be nice, but you are not kind.
You may know a lot, but you are not wise.
You may have some good in you, but you are not innocent.
You may have a little light in your soul, but that doesn’t mean you lack darkness.
You have just as much blood on your hands as I do.
You are I monster. A monster like me.
And you are forgotten as you forgot me.
And when you come running back, I will tell you:
You’ve come back, but I no longer need you.
