POEM STARTER
Leopards never change their spots.
Write a poem that begins or ends with this line. You could stick with the typical meaning of this saying, or explore different turns of phrase.
Leopards
You’re supposed to be my loving father
But you broke my heart and tore me down
Like I was something lacking a soul
You took away a piece of my spirit
And held it high; like a trophy
As if that piece was yours to take
You flip my words around
And tell me lies to my face
Like I was never blood to begin with
I don’t know why I keep trying
To find a new, better man inside
But I do, and it hurts me every single day
You won’t change your character
No matter how hard I might pray
Because you were born to be this hateful
And leopards never change their spots
(Sorry it got a little deep and personal)🥴
