POEM STARTER

Write a poem exploring movement.

Exercise, dance, gesturing, reaching – focus on whatever type of movement you like, but consider the language you can use to portray the action.

In. Out.

My hands reach up to the unforgiving sun, My palms meet forming and arrow that I point at the water. A sound resonates in my ears, my legs and feet act; Pushing me off the platform, I fly through the air…weightless. First my hands then the rest meet the water, it flows through my fingers like sand as I pull forward, My legs power through, vigorously kicking in sync movements. Breathe in. Out. I continue, my body skimming the water. My hands dive into the water pulling me forward. In. Out. The approaches, I reach out my hand and just like that I’m in and out of the water. In. Out.
