Bound By A Promise

In the silence of the night, with a heart so steep,

Lay a man with secrets that he couldn't help but keep.

His love for his wife, pure and true,

Yet shadows of desire, in his mind they grew.

He walked a tightrope, in darkness so deep,

Juggling true love, with the lust that did creep,

A whisper of a touch, a fleeting glance,

In the dangerous dance, he took his chance.

His wife, with eyes like stars shining bright,

She was his world, his reason to fight.

But demons within, they clawed and they leapt,

Dragging him down, into the depths.

He vowed to be better, his promises seeped,

Into the night, where the cold winds swept.

But the morning light, it revealed the heap,

Of broken dreams, where she silently wept.

He tried to heal her wounds, but the cuts were too deep.

She couldn’t overcome the pain, the climb was just too steep.

Regret filled his chest, with every secret he reaped,

Knowing he'd been the cause of the tears she did weep.

Lost in the fog, alone in the deep,

Bound by a promise, that he couldn't keep.
