The Wonderful World Of The Hrafas Part 1

A shiver runs down my spine, I glance around, cautious of my surroundings, my sisters do too. What was that? Maybe a bird, but we were in cave so that option is unlikely. Unless the bird was tossed in because of storm like we were, and it’s talons made that awful sound. That was more likely. I flop my exhausted body down against the stone barrier that holds my body still. I close my eyes, flicking my eyelashes a bit then settling down my brain for a nap. I remember why we came here, Olive, Mira and me, it seems like it happened a long time ago but it happened only a few days from now.

“Ugh,”Olive sighs, she was annoyed at our speed but I couldn’t go any faster, it was the holidays and me and Mira didn’t need to go to school and Olive could stop working for the rest of the holidays so we planned a vacation together, “Come on, we booked the cabin at twelve, not one!” she almost shouts, “You know if you weren’t so slow for maybe once we could save some money!” Olive continues blabbering on about that one time where we had to go back for a book I forgot about and how it took us half of our time at the water park, I lost track somewhere between the glasses incident and the dentist appointment incident.

Then suddenly Mira exclaimed“We know, we know!” ejecting her voice so loud that I was sure that the neighbors could hear her, both Olive and me stop, staring at her, it wasn’t like Mira to be so loud, so it came as a surprise even to Mira, “Well you kept talking about those times and I just wanted to say that we know and I felt kinda uncomfortable also, so maybe you could stop saying it?” Mira questioned in her usual fragile voice,

“Yeah I agree with Mira on that.” I grumbled, still a little dazed by Mira’s outburst

Olive seems to be too and backs off with the excuse of going to the bathroom. I knew she was going to complain after a while so I enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere while I could.

After packing up the needed items and equipment, we were about to head out to the garage, when Mira at the last minute asks if she could eat something. Olive ignored Mira’s request and says that she can eat when we get there, but I disagree entirely saying that we should just eat right now because it will take too long. Olive reluctantly agreed demanding that it should take no longer than 10 minutes. Me and Olive get to cooking, running up to the kitchen and grabbing the needed ingredients. And as I cracked the egg it’s yellow and transparent insides emptied into the bowl, Olive was chopping up some kinda of vegetable saying that it makes the eggs more delicious. And in no time the smell of fried eggs wafted through our house, drenching it in the scent. I was slicing an apple and as I almost finished, the sound of Mira’s shriek distracts me. And with one slash blood engulfs my hand I wince in pain and rush to the tap to clean my wound I need to see how deep it is, and I know Olive will handle what ever happened with Mira. After, washing away the blood even though it’s slowly overflowing my hand again I can see it’s not too deep, I smack a bandage on and walk over to see what the commotion was about. It was just a spider. Then after Olive and Mira asked what happened suggesting my cut, I tell them and then we drive away hastily leaving our small but just enough apartment.

In the car, heavy drops of water rained down from the heavens, it seemed like God was saddened by something, and was crying so hard that I was pretty sure the water on the road was at least a good 15 centimeters deep. My elbow was propped on the leathery surface of our car and my head rested against my soft tender palm. I peer at my right palm the itchy knife cut making the journey much more unbearable. As I try to distract myself from the inevitable itchiness I wish I could get Mira to climb to the back of the car to get my phone but she was sound asleep. I grabbed a bottle of water and twisted the cap making a rather satisfying sound then it popped off and I put the cap in my good hand, and take a sip then another slowly emptying the bottle when it reaches the half point I decide to stop so I twisted the cap back into its original form except the fact that I drank half of the water it looked the same. I twisted it to the right then to the left repeatedly, doing it made me feel better. As I twisted the cap time seemed to pity me so it somehow made two hours feel like 20 minutes, well about twenty minutes if you didn’t count the toilet breaks and the food breaks.

Once we arrived, I welcomed the fresh forest air with wide arms, Olive swings the car to a nearby parking lot and after doing that we head down to the hotel and show our online ticket to get some rest and a shower in our rooms. Probably, that’s a good idea. The elevator takes us into the maze of the hotel Olive guides us, and as soon as I see a bed I throw away the thoughts of a shower, kick off my shoes and jump into the comforting quilts of the bed. Soon after I’d laid down, I feel darkness crawl around and I let it take me away into my dreams and relax my body.
