Your character lives alone in a harsh and desolate setting...

Desolate

With a swift movement of her hand she rubbed away some sand on her cheek, that had started to itch her. She wasn‘t to thorough, as sand got everywhere out here. She‘d been out to collect animals from her traps and set them up again. It was a good day. She had two rabbits and another sort of small rodent. She didn‘t care about what it exactly was. She knew it had quite some meat on it and how to prepare it. That was all that counted. She reached the rock formation, turned sharply to the right and walked straight into the narrow opening. It was a perfect base entrance. Due to the colouring and texture of the stones, one could barely see the passage, even when looking straight at it. From the upper part of her hideout she had observed one or the other gang of thieves passing, without them even noticing any signs of live out here. The passage opened up again, revealing a yard with about ten by ten meters space, that ended with the rock formation hanging over it at the opposite end of the passage. It gave her some natural roofing to find cover. First she put the animals into the wooden fencings she had put at one side of the yard. Then she walked over to the covered area and found the little corner that hid a little rudimentary staircase she had chipped out of the stone. It was very narrow and she had to move with her body sideways. But it already had took her ages to get through and such a game changer to the ropes she had used before. She reached the upper level which was a natural cave system. She had two proper rooms and some areas that opened up from the tunnels to some open spaces on top of the rock formation. She called the her balconies. She never built any permanent structure there. One could see it from the distance and she‘d rather not have anyone know she lived here. So she just used them for some works she needed to do or to watched the sunset. She survived three sandstorms before she had enough of the open system though and finally build some very poor doors inside the tunnel systems to cut these balconies off. The two main rooms where divided in her sleeping place, rather small with just her sleeping matt and a little box she had build from gathered wood to storage her little clothing she possessed and a few personal items. She passed that space and entered her living and kitchen area. She was very hungry and started making some fire right away. It was a hard day, but she was looking forward to some delicious rabbit and another beautiful desert sunset.
