outcasts

" jeez, what are they doing now? " harper exclaimed, resting a hand on her chest. " looks like they're having a rap battle or something. " roxanne said nonchalantly. she was too busy fixing her makeup. someone flicked water in her face and ' fucked it up ', she says.

" ooh, we should join! " matthew yelped. " we? correction, you. if WE lose than we're in debt. " roxanne said, taking a pause from fixing her eyeliner to shoot matthew a dirty look. " you're in it yourself. "

" everyone calm down. just because we've all had shitty days doesn't mean we have to be dicks. " charlie said, looking up from her phone to manage the group.

the outcasts. harper, roxanne, matthew, charlie, jordan, and toby. charlie was like the big sister of the group. roxanne was like her counterpart. jordan and toby were like the middle siblings, undoubtedly. matthew and harper loved to involve themselves in everything, but roxanne was sure to stop them. roxanne doesn't fit in with anybody, so she stays with the outcasts, but she still cares about her reputation with the outcasts. she makes them look good.

they're like a big family.

" we need money, asap. " jordan chimed in, putting down their phone.

oh, and did i mention they worked with an underground mafia?

" boss is getting sick of us screwing shit up. " roxanne added, shifting her gaze to charlie. " why are you looking at me? " charlie said, peering at roxanne. " i don't know, you're like the leader of the group. " she said, looking back at her hand mirror.

" i think we have to like rob the school or some shit- " toby said, taking his earbuds out. " who robs a school? literally where's the money- " matthew said, dumbfounded. " dumb bitch we pickpocket the teachers. wouldn't they have like credits cards on them? " harper said, closing her notebook and joining the conversation.

" shit mrs. rao- " charlie said, but was cut off. " SOOO everybody how's the social studies homework coming along? " toby said loudly as a teacher walked by. " oh yeah, can anyone help me with the question about that drought- " jordan said, stalling. as the teacher walked along, a few sighs filled the groups silence.

" close one lol " matthew said. " matthew you have to stop saying text abbreviations out loud. you sound fucking stupid. " roxanne said, applying purple lipstick. matthew sighed, moving closer to toby.

" okay so tomorrow? we down to pickpocket? " roxanne says, finally snapping her hand mirror shut and tucking her purse behind her arm. " sure, what do we have to lose. " jordan sighed. " i mean, our lives, but who cares about that anymore. " charlie said, standing up. " lunch is almost over. let's meet tomorrow. " she said, grabbing her bag. " this is a big deal. if we pull this off, we're set for life. " she added, walking off.

\\ next morning, front of the building //

" we ready? if we're late to class then just say there was traffic getting here. " charlie said, addressing everyone. they all nodded. " watch out for security cameras! " harper added, running in the door. roxanne groaned, fixing her blush. she was rushing this morning.

toby and matthew ran off together, oddly enough, holding hands. " young love. " jordan sighed, smiling. " meet up after school! " charlie exclaimed, jogging into the building. roxanne walked sluggishly into the building. she wasn't prepared.

\\ after school //

the outcasts sat outside on the benches, far away from any people. " okay, dump em out! " charlie said, unzipping her purse and dropping a handful of about 6 cards, all with distinct color and brand. jordan and roxanne worked together, with jordan as a distraction. toby and matthew gathered what seemed to be millions of cards. harper and charlie had the least of the group.

" harper wanted to go to class and i had to keep stopping her! " charlie defended herself jokingly. they all packed up the cards and walked home. they heard police sirens out in public so they dived into the bush and ran. sticks scattered the forest floor and moss ran along trees.

" i know where we are. i can take us back to my place and we can turn in some stuff to boss to cover our debt. keep the rest for ourselves! " toby said, inciting cheers. the whole group cheered quietly and pumped their fists. they were rich.

" i guess we're set for life. "
