The Place That’s To Dark
I wake up, I can’t see a thing except for the small pin sized hole in which light beams through. All of a sudden more and more holes appear one after another and then I feel it. I’m being shot at not by one gun but multiple guns. I feel the bullets hit me one by one, my body starts to fall apart as holes are ripped in me from the bullets. The light then begins to blur and I feel my self fading into the dark eternal abyss we humans call death. Although my life cut short and the world around me is going dim I don’t sense the flash. The flash that everyone talks about I’m waiting to replay my life in my head but instead I am met with more darkness. Then I wake up again the same hole in the same wall I stared at before. It’s all happened I know it did something must be wrong this can’t be what death is right? It can’t be an endless cycle of remembering how you died. I can’t do this as those bullets start flying through the wall once more, I attempt to run but am met with a brick wall. My world goes black and I wake up. "Hey are you ok man” said this strange but oddly familiar voice. Then again “hey are you ok man” the voice calls out. My vision returns to me and so does my memory. This awful trial of death on repeat was a training exercise. Not a dream, not death just a stupid useless trading exercise that I don’t remember signing up for. I realize as I awaken that I’ve been down for hundreds of years. The person who awoke me was my best friend whom also did the same exercise. I don’t know why we were out for so long but we are be now. But why are we here? Is there a true purpose I think to myself. As I continue to ponder I’m snapped out of it quickly by a stern monotone voice “can you hear me it’s time to suit up”.
I reply “suit up for what sir? I was in that damn exercise for so long what am I supposed to be suiting up for?” The person I realize I’m talking to is the commander of the facility I’m in. Although wearing a badge I had never seen. I ask “ sir what branch of the military are you apart of”. “Oh I guess that’s a fair question, I along with you and your fellow soilder and this entire facility are associated with a branch know as midnight under the national earth confederation. I know all of this is probably flying over your head right now but once you suit up I can tell you more” said the captain. I am met by another group of officers just to his left and they take me to the equipment room and as I walk in the lights fade. I’ve been dead this whole time it is only now that I remember how and where I died. I died aboard an alien ship in which I was captured onto. They blew me apart with there atom splicing bullets I never stood a chance at least I can rest in peace now.
