Bold and colourful

Blooming and proud

So much energy for the future

Yet, now…

Straight stems squeezed

tightly bound with rubber

immersed in dregs of sustenance

confined to a glass sleeve

Risen high but now you sigh

as fading flowers fall,

petal, by petal…

Yet, is there a future?

Green shoots projecting

In the depths of decay…

Any hope for a new life?

Dried out heads droop

Side by side

Surrounded by thorns

Piercing like knives

Once bloomed…

Now doomed

Waiting for an axe

To be strewn

Dead headed

Their bodies lay

Cast on a heap

Their minds slayed
