Shoelace Secrets

My feet began to feel as though they were suffocating, cramped between the walls of my shoes. The intense shooting pain forced my head to jerk towards the ground in confusion when i noticed my shoelace were tightening. My eyebrows knitted in confusion, and the familiar shooting pain darted up my legs, forcing me to fall on my back. I pulled my knees towards my chest, desperate to remove the source of the pain, before the laces began to loosen on its own.

I cursed under my breath, wondering why Aunt Kendra left these for me, I couldn't even walk in them properly! Gravel and dust imprinted onto my palm as i pushed myself onto my feet again, my mind flickering onto the note she left me.

"Remember me when you wear these, it explain the things i was unable to tell you... You are a smart lad Kevin"

I scoffed at the memory, unless it could explain that odd women, these shoes were pretty useless. My mind shifted, remembering the events from this morning. The atmosphere shifted when the mysterious women walked into the funeral. Her heels echoed at each step, announcing her presence as she shifted her weight to one side. Two men followed closely behind, muttering something into a mouth piece before planting themselves at the door. I didn't recognize her at all, her large sunglasses didn't help, but she seemed weirdly familiar.

I was suddenly pulled away from my thoughts when the tugging sensation at my feet returned. This time, the shoelace began to pull me forwards, almost tripping me over. I tried to balance my self before it continued again, increasing its strength each time. My arms flailed around as the pull was practically forcing me to run. The increasing force led me forward, as it took me in different directions and before i knew it, i arrived at a gravesite. The pull started to ease but pointed me towards a path tucked away by overgrown bushes and trees - shadowing over the path as if it was hiding something. I gently pushed away the hanging branches that were threatening to fall as i gasped. A moss covered tombstone sat under the shadows, with engraved scripture that was indistinguishable. In front of it laid an unburied coffin, with the door wide open.
