WRITING OBSTACLE

Your character is stuck inside a rapidly deflating bouncy castle at a fair.

In this scene, juxtapose their panic with the joyful surroundings of a summer fair.

Terror At The Fair

I’ve been looking forward to this day for week. My mom had promised to bring me and my friends to the county fair for a day of fun. I get to bring my best friends Joe and Ben with me.

When we got to the fair we immediately headed to the rides, the faster and higher the better. All of us liked the Bungee Shot the best. Even though it looked kind of sketchy, it was great!! The ride shot us out of a cannon like device about 50 feet in the air at about 50 miles an hour.

When mom said that we had 15 more minutes before we had to leave, we decided to get out the last of our energy by going into a giant bouncy house. Even though it seemed kind of childish, the labrynth of tunnels and rooms looked fun. We were chasing around when I began to notice that the walls and floor seemed a bit spongier than it had been. I didn’t think much of it until the walls began tilting in. Hey, I wondered, what’s happening! Then I noticed the people on the outside with scared expressions and movements. It seemed like they were motioning us to move towards the entrance. I called to Joe and Ben. They had that strange look on their faces like they were wondering what was going on. I yelled to Get Out!! Now!!! As we tried heading to the exit we couldn’t move fast because the surface was too soft!! It was like swimming in sand. Then the ceiling fell down on us and we couldn’t move anywhere! Just as the plastic was suffocating our air, some one from the outside slashed the plastic with a knife to give us air and save us. I will NEVER look at bouncy house the same again and think that it is a fun place for kids.
