POEM STARTER
‘Bees offer honey far more readily than they sting.’
Write a poem that begins with this line. What themes can this metaphor reflect?
Sweet Accountability
“Bees offer honey more than they sting!”
“People with good hearts get hurt the most!”
“It wasn’t my fault. It wasn’t my fault.
It wasn’t. _MY_ fault!”
If a bee stings you then dies,
whose the real victim?
You turned down the honey
and hurt that bee’s feelings.
Does them bringing you pain
make their death not in vain?
Or did they overreact
and die as consequence?
You just don’t like honey…
So what was the big deal?
The bee thought a good heart
automatically came healed.
When did being sweet
mean to reject reality?
When did hearts become
too good for boundaries?
What the bee didn’t know
is no one owed it anything.
The pain could be personal
but find the lesson and proceed.
Don’t become bitter.
Ignore the urge to sting.
Staying alive is a
responsibility.
It just is what it is,
and self sabotage isn’t
how a heartbeat should end.
