Walking through the forest

Hand in hand we roamed

The gloomy shadows creeping

Across the dewy grove

We heard the thunder rolling

And suddenly we stopped

Hoping that we’d make it back

To the mossy rock

It started as a mist

Just barely wetting my hair

Then poured down in buckets

Scaring the poor squirrel

We huddled close together

Walked as quickly as we could

Stepping over the roots and rocks

Across the slippery wood

It’s coming down in blankets now

We’re completely drenched

And suddenly we hear a sound

And off the birdies went

The rock comes into view

The clouds part from the sky

We turn our faces to the light

Resting our weary eyes

Looking at my shoes

Seeing your messy hair

I double over in laughter

Wondering how we even got here

But I refuse to ask questions

And I let my mind drift

And suddenly with the realization I’m hit

It’s a Sunday morning

The smell of waffles in the air

It was just another dream

That made me wish you were here
