POEM STARTER

Write a poem centred around a sculptor and their clay.

Champion

Form me tireless feet to tread way,

Form me the strong legs that carry,

A straight back for the burdens of the day,

And for the night’s rest of the weary.

Curve me the lips that will pray,

Sweet eyelids to cover the sunlight,

Hidden shell curves in the clay,

For I must have ears to hear secrets.

Smooth me to glow full of health,

To play, to dance, and to love.

Shape me and shine me with warmth.

Guild me with beauty and joy.

Shape me a generous hand,

A generous mouth full of kindness.

A firm step and upright stand,

For I must be brave and upstanding.

These feet must not be left upon the stand.

This face must not be left in the shadows.

Give me the world, open your hand.

Touch me with life - live what follows.
