A Chueh-chu is a Chinese poetic form based on a shortened sonnet. It has 2 stanzas with 4 lines each, with 10 syllables in each line.

America’s Finest City

Sunshine in February, oh how nice,

tiny white buds bloom along creeping vines,

windless air emboldens the sun to beam,

for, winter is simply a suggestion here.

Rain clouds in February, oh how rare,

we beg for and bemoan the fleeting storm

puddles reveal our communal neglect

for, winter is often forgotten her.
