The cave

“I can’t see anything!” She shrieked for the fourth time in a row. In vain, she held her arms out in front of her, flapping them vehemently back and forth as if she could fly out of the hell-hole they were trapped in.

“I know you can’t fucking see anything,” Abe growled, slowly dragging one hand down his sweat covered face.

He was lost in a dark, musty cave with his friend’s girlfriend. How could it come to be that he’d be forced to live through both of his worst nightmares at once? What had he done that was bad enough to piss off God that much?

“This is your fault!”

He couldn’t make out much more than her faint silhouette, but it looked like she had spun around and pointed one of her perfectly manicured fingers at him.

“What the hell do you mean?”

“This was your stupid idea,” she snarled, her voice cracking slightly. He rolled his eyes when he realized she was about to cry. If she started to, he’d be living through three nightmares at once.

“Look,” he started, “I’m sorry that I lead us in here, but it’s not my fault we got lost. You were the one that wanted to go in further. I was fine hanging out at the front.”
