I Don’t Want To / But I Must
I don’t want to stick out like a weed in a field of wildflowers.
I don’t want to be the cloud on a summer’s day.
I don’t want to be the one to shower on sand pit.
I don’t want to be the one to dim the ray.
But I am a cloud and I am full of rain.
I need to release, but I keep it in until I feel pain.
I hold it tight inside my fluff, but it must come out and I must give up.
I don’t want to be the one to ruin a perfect day.
Have they not had enough?
I can’t keep it in, I must allow the rain.
I release the water and begin to fade.
But as I do I feel a warmth from behind.
I turn myself and the light almost blinds.
The spectrum of colour we call a rainbow has come out and it’s all because I freed myself.
I didn’t try to be something I wasn’t.
I am a raincloud and I’m not a weed, I’m a blossom.
