Cornhole & Spirits
Jenna’s favorite drinking game is cornhole; a couple weeks ago she was so drunk after stumbling onto the board crushing it she lost all the bags. I bet I could figure out a cornhole remix game since she is without. I have a great idea; to the store.
Walking into the store the first thing I need is a big cardboard box; the cashiers box purchased items here, no bags, so I grabbed the longest box I could find. I’ll cut a big circle in the center, close to the edge, big enough for large things to fall through later. Next I needed to go shopping; I basically got one thing from each aisle, different shapes and sizes. I grabbed a jumbo pack of baby wipes, bags of tortillas, a whole cooked chicken, small pumpkins and other gourds, a bag of marshmallows, a piñata and some other things. Jenna’s house is close so I could get there pretty fast; can’t forget to get a few bags of ice and frozen fruit.
I set up everything in the yard; gotta cut the hole in the box and placed them on couple of rocks so the end with the hole is higher. I set all the random items from the store on a table and filled a bowl with the names of the different random items I brought. Everyone at the party had been drinking; I see five empty bottles from the windows already so this will be very comical. Fun for me.
Jenna, Alex, and Taylor were the first to see the setup outside and announced it to everyone in a big commotion no one could really understand but a crowd followed them anyway. Without missing a beat I grabbed the bowl that had the paper in it and held it out waiting for someone to pick one. Taylor was technically first but Jenna tripped into her knocking her out of the way and spilling something out of her cup onto Taylor’s pants.
I smiled and said “please pick one” with a suspicious grin on my face and a slight head tilt. She downed the rest of her drink and picked a folded piece of paper from the bowl. She opened it and with so much confusion in her voice said “gourd?! What’s a gourd?”
I looked at her and laughed handing her a small yellow looking thing; a little bigger than a football. “Throw it! Aim for the whole.” I paused and giggled standing out of the way and pointing to the hole I cut in the big long box. She dropped it twice walking over to the line I had marked and everyone laughed including Jenna.
When she got to her place, trying to hold her balance, she decided to do a spin and launch move; she spun alright and launched that gourd. She completed two full spins before losing her footing, tripping over her feet and landing on the grass face first with her arms still extended above her head. She threw the gourd right into Taylors’ stomach. The look on Taylor’s face gave me the cue to move immediately and as I walked around and behind the table my thoughts were confirmed.
Everyone had been drinking that day, there were five empty bottles when I walked by the window. Taylor projectile vomited all over the grass and in Jenna’s hair and her back because she hadn’t gotten up. There is alcohol vomit everywhere; and I think salsa. Yes, chips and salsa Maybe she shouldn’t have spun around; but this was fun. I wonder who’ll pick the piñata.
