POEM STARTER

Submitted by Brittany Lawson

Write a poem about someone stuck in a cycle of self destruction. Just as they are about to exit the cycle or have a breakthrough, the poem starts back at the beginning.

Unsteady

I am unnerved I am fragile I am eccentric and an introvert, a dreamer and a broken soul I am unsteady. I’m a liar, a no good, worthless being I’m not enough, no, never enough. Ever. I’m all the things i never wanted to be- I’m my own worst enemy. I am a fighter- I claw my way out of the dark and peomise ill never go back again. I am a daughter. I am a sister. I am a friend. I am wild I am funny. I am over the top, ridiculous and a dreamer. I’m unrealistic, used up, and past my prime. I’m a nobody, lost in a world of somebodies. I am spinning. I am a merry go round, going round and round and round, not sure I’ll ever stop. I am praying. I am screaming I am fighting For my life. I am slowly coming to a stop I am seeing straight I am seeing clearly I am myself again I am free. I am unnerved I am fragile I am eccentric and an introvert, a dreamer and a broken soul I am unsteady.
