The Hidden Sanctuary

As the hazy light filtered through the trees

I felt myself grow anxious for what’s next

The stiffness grew heavier in my knees

As I forced a row of those last few feet.

It was perfectly laying there, unaffected

By the world that ate away at the good

It was not at all what I expected

This feeling of home grow inside my chest.

I forced my aching knees and feet to stand

And took the much awaited step into it

The hidden sanctuary, sacred land

That all man had only a dream to know.

The trees were green, the water so majestic

As clear as crystal and as cold as ice

My jaw opened wide. The sights, eclectic

Never before seen so many colors

I knew now, this is what I would call home.
