In A New World
“Where am I?” Lucillia asked the sky. She sat up and found herself on a park bench.
She got up and wandered around the park trying to figure out where she is. Wherever she was…it looked nothing like where she was from.
“Hello, are you alright Miss?” A guy in a tee shirt and jogging pants asked. He looked at her with absolute concern in his eyes.
“Where am I?” She asked him.
“Your in New York, in Central Park.”
‘New York? Central Park?’ She thought to herself.
“What is this planet called?”
“That’s a very odd question, but this is earth.”
‘Earth? What was and earth?’ She thought again.
“If you will, come with me, and I can find someone to help you.”
He held his hand out to her, waiting for her to grab it. She hesitated for a few seconds, but then she realized that if she went with him…well it was the best option she had at the moment.
“Where are you taking me?” She asked.
“I’m taking you to the hospital.”
“What’s a hospital?”
He looked at her with even more concern then he had when he saw her wandering around like an idiot. “It’s a place where people help you.” He said, as if it was totally obvious. “Your not from around here…are you?”
“Umm…” she said, unsure of how much she should trust him.
“You can tell me. I promise I won’t tell a soul.”
“Umm…I’m not from…this world.” She said slowly.
He looked at her like she had gone mental.
Then he laughed and said, “Good one. Now, where are you really from?”
“I told you. I’m from a planet called, Moneral. It’s a small planet, about the size of a small town.”
He gave her a weird look, and asked, “Okay. Um. How about we start with an easier subject, like…what’s your name?”
“My name is Lucillia.”
“Well Lucillia, my names Gabe. Now, let’s see…what’s another easy question…what’s your age?”
“How does this have anything to do with you believing me that I’m from a different planet?”
“Well I don’t quite believe you.”
She let go of his hand, and started stomping the way they came from. He ran up to her and grabbed her hand again and said, “Okay, if your from a different planet then prove it.”
She didn’t know how. How was she going to make him believe her? And how was she going to get home? How was she going to figure out how to live here?
