The Coup De Grace
"Gemini and Libra, I'm disappointed in you," said Aquarius from deep within the tsunami waves hovering over them. "I tried to bring you into the fold. I thought only one of you was the traitor; now I see you both are traitorous."
"What do you want?" The three shouted, trying to buy time for Scorpio to return with Abaddon.
"The only thing of value you have." Aquarius answered: "I want your Giants and I want your hellfire. This has only ever been about power. If you had really that from the beginning, no one would have died."
"Except the Cuahalanites," said the juggernaut.
"This is not a debate or a negotiation," said Aquarius. The waters around Leo began to rise, and they watched in horror as the lion was engulfed with water, the claws scrambling above the surface.
"Stop!" Shouted the three. "We're talking! We're not fighting you! Don't kill Leo!"
The waters receded from the plain and they saw the crushed lion on the muddy battlefield, breathing his last. The energy form flickered and then disappeared, leaving the wizard's slain body.
"You are wasting time," said Aquarius. "Sagittarius and his centaurs are next."
"I don't know what to do," said Libra, "we don't have a play."
The deathly quiet was broken by the crack of a catapault. The legion serving Aquarius scattered, and then the sounds of horses and swords filled the air. They were battling each other.
"What is happening?" Aries shouted. The soldiers were attacking each other. Aries screamed as he was gored by Taurus. "Hey!" Screamed Aries.
"It's Abaddon," said Juan to Libra and Bucephalus. "He's here and turning everyone against each other. Scorpio succeeded!"
Taurus and Aries now had their horns locked together, pushing each other back and forth across the plain. "Scorpio!" Juan called with his mind. "You have to create a seal over the mine's entrance at Bucephalus' house! Aquarius will drown them!"
"On it!" Scorpio replied, and they watched her eagle form screech through the sky above them.
With an awful crunch and wailing, Taurus tossed Aries over his back with horns still locked, breaking Aries' energy form's neck, killing Aries. "I never liked you," screamed Taurus. "I was always your errand boy, your servant, never your equal!" Taurus turned to face the three.
"Libra and Gemini," said Aquarius, "you imagine it some great challenge for me to defeat an old god like Abaddon. Please. Ekballo!" With that, the legions were stilled, and Taurus regarded Aries corpse, now lucid.
"What have I done!" Taurus moaned. He scraped the muddy ground with his hooves and began to charge against the juggernaut.
Jumping out of the way, the three watched Sagittarius and his centaurs begin battle with the legion once more. "You cannot win!" Aquarius proclaimed. "I will drown you if you will not surrender."
The three aimed a shoulder into Taurus' neck, and knocked him into the ground. Boganasheth spoke into Juan's mind. "I know what to do. Pull out Taurus' horns."
Without hesitation, the three leapt onto the struggling form of Taurus and grabbed his horns. The bull bellowed as they placed their foot onto his face and superheated the horns until they were burning white hot. The three smashed the bull's head in two and yanked out his horns with the most awful squeal. Taurus' form fell to the ground and began to flicker as the wizard died.
"Now," said Boganasheth, "run into the water. I'm going to capture Aquarius." They sprinted headlong into the wave, immediately losing their vision and footing. They felt themselves extend out into the water, like another part of their body, and Boganasheth formed his energy field around a man-shaped figure.
The waters immediately receded and the battlefield dried. The three stood above the pulsating energy prison of Aquarius, trapped and reverted to his human form of an elderly man.
"Juan," said Boganasheth. "I'll open a hole at Aquarius' chest. Stab him with Taurus' horns. Scorpio will know what to do."
"But he's defeated!" Juan protested.
"He's not! You only have this chance!" Cried his twin.
The three watched the energy spread apart at Aquarius' chest. "Don't!" Aquarius shouted. They plunged Taurus' horn deep into the old wizard's chest.
Overhead, Scorpio's eagle formed descended, and she became human standing next to them. With murmured incantations, she instilled a black, glowing plasma energy though the horn, as Aquarius breathed his last.
"She's trapping Abaddon in there with him," Libra said, with reverence.
Scorpio then waved her hands over the energy field, and a clear green shell formed around Aquarius and Abaddon. "Emerald," she explained. "Abaddon was happy to do this, honestly. He hated Aquarius and Anwyn more than anything. He's fine with me putting him back into Tartarus when this is all finished."
