You accidentally come first in a competition you didn't realise you had entered.
Try to convey a real sense of surprise with this story. You could describe the competition and the win, but keep the focus on your character and their reactions.
I’m A Winner?
The only thing I remember is being handed a gold trophy, nothing before that, and only hazy memories afterwards.
My picture is shown in the paper, my name is flashed on the news. And all because of something I can’t remember.
No one will tell me what I won, they seem to think I’m making a joke. Nobody believes me, so how can I believe myself?
I must smile and wave, content to be the face of the completion I don’t remember entering.
