Poppy.
I take a big thick book out, it was one of my favorite book series too.
A few minutes later I take out my phone to look online. I look on an online story app which I like to look at for reading.
One of the characters didn’t talk much, wasn’t a very outgoing exciting person and he was thought to be shy to most readers. But he also in one part of the book had snapped at a person who was annoying him. Some people are just quiet because they have no reason to talk. They could if they want to but they want to do their own thing. Same as me, I shrug.
Some Introverts are shy and reserved, some are just reserved, some just talk when they need to but like to do their own thing. Some are all of them.We have our thoughts and feelings but don’t always say.We feel more comfortable around less crowds and more alone and at home time. I personally still like socializing, just not all the time.
I exit the app and lay on the carpet of the living room.
“Uuurgh...” I say,just laying there.
So many things are complicated.
“You Alive?” My sister, Alice asks me, peeking her head in the doorway.
“Yeah. Hi Alice” I say, waving from the floor.
“Sooo Watcha thinking about?” Alice asks me.
I scrunch my nose up, thinking even harder.
“Hm..well don’t strain your brain tooo much..” Alice says, teasing me and waving at me as she goes to another room in the house.
I get a notification, it’s my friend.
Cammy Arloh. They’re probably trying to get me to join his new club. The gamers club.
But when I check my message from them it’s something different...
It says:
Cammy - Sarah!
Cammy - guess what?
Cammy - I got a puppy!
A picture of a really young, really cute, golden retriever was there, eyes staring at me, making me want to reach into the picture and pet it.
Aww..
Later I stop by to meet the puppy and say hi to my friend.
“So what’s the puppy’s name?” I ask, curious to know.
“Poppy.” Cammy says to me with a sad but happy smile. I remember from History class Poppy had been the symbol of remembrance for this who died in the war. I forgot which war but I do know that it represents hope.
“I want Poppy to represent Hope for everything, everyone. I know these days there’s no wars or anything but it’s hard for everyone with loss of loved ones and the pandemic. I hope that everyone out there is still trying, still persevering.”
Cammy says, with a smile.
