Finding True Love

Eros on high keeps a watchful eye.

I prayed he’d find you before I died.

He whispered your name, softly in my ear.

So many times, I did not hear!

But all along I knew-

When the wind kissed my face it was you.

Slowly as night fell

Eros had many stories to tell.

While sleep dragged on my lids,

It was your face he carefully hid.

Gently as the waves caress the shore,

It was you I was looking for.

Deep in a flower filled meadow with the sun warming the air, I knew you were there.

All along I ached for your touch,

Never expecting much.

So often did I wish you would appear.

Thinking, “oh, you are just being silly my dear!”

So please, imagine my surprise.

For the first time I looked deep into your eyes.
