STORY STARTER
Write a story that takes place entirely in a ballroom, but not during a ball.
Set the action in a ballroom. It could be present day during a visit, historical, or maybe something magical happened that took your characters there?
The Rain
The gente pattering of the rain on the brick exterior of the house was like a calming mantra for Mercy. She gently lifted her hand to grace the cold glass of the window with her fingertips.
She longed for a sharp bolt of lightning to make itself known along with the rolling sound of thunder.
She turned to face the painting on the other end of the large room. As she was squinting to make it out it suddenly became illuminated by the very thing she was hoping for. She sighed happily as she heard the thunder responding.
Soon, another sound followed. The sound of the ballroom doors heavily closing. In front of them stood the prince.
“I’m so sorry, I’ll get ba-“
“You come here to watch the storm too?” The prince interrupted her apology, clearly having the same intent and not minding that the space is shared “Better than watching it from my room. Theres more windows here” He made his way over to the window beside her and gave her an interested look.
She gazed back at him, still afraid of him telling the king and queen she had been ‘snooping around’ at night.
“Mercy, was it” He suddenly asked.
She nodded. Seeing his demeanor and the way he spoke, she figured she could somewhat trust him.
