Love Locked
Here’s something to get us started:
Love Locked
Nina adjusted the microphone clipped to her sequined dress, taking a deep breath as the bright studio lights bore down on her. This was it—the moment she had been promised would change her life forever.
“Find Your Forever” was no ordinary dating show. Unlike the manufactured drama of other reality TV, this one had a guarantee: using an advanced compatibility algorithm, the producers claimed they could match contestants with their perfect soulmate. Nina had signed up on a whim, half-drunk on wine and loneliness one night, never expecting to be chosen.
But then she got the call.
The host, an eerily polished man named Conrad Vale, flashed a smile so perfect it had to be surgically enhanced. “Welcome, Nina,” he purred, leading her to the stage. The audience, unseen behind the blinding lights, murmured with anticipation. “Are you ready to meet your perfect match?”
Nina’s heart pounded. She nodded. The screen beside her flickered to life, revealing a shadowy silhouette. The “Big Reveal” was the show’s signature moment—contestants couldn’t see their match until the final second.
But something felt… off.
There was a strange, mechanical hum beneath the applause. A prickling sensation crawled up Nina’s spine. The silhouette in the screen shifted, and for a fraction of a second, she thought she saw something wrong with the shape—something unnatural.
“Let’s meet your one true love!” Conrad announced. The screen lifted.
And there he was.
Nina’s breath caught. He was perfect. Almost too perfect. Chiseled features, piercing eyes, a smile that seemed… rehearsed.
“Hello, Nina,” he said, voice smooth as glass.
She stared, her mind racing. He looked exactly like the man she had described in her application. Every detail she had ever dreamed of. But there was something in his eyes—something vacant. Like he was waiting for direction.
Her pulse quickened. She turned to Conrad, who was watching her reaction intently.
“Who… who is he?” she asked, her voice unsteady.
Conrad’s smile widened. “He’s your perfect match, Nina. The one you’ve been waiting for.”
Nina’s skin crawled. Something was very, very wrong.
She reached out, touching the man’s hand. It was warm. Real. But there was a stiffness in the way he moved, like a marionette on invisible strings.
The audience erupted in cheers. The lights flashed. Conrad gestured grandly.
“And now, Nina,” he declared, “it’s time to seal your fate with a kiss!”
Her match turned to her expectantly.
Nina’s breath caught in her throat. Every instinct screamed at her to run.
But the doors had locked behind her.
