Sands of Time
Whenever you leave
In anticipation of your return
I leave my doors open
I know it’s a bad habit
But I always do.
These open doors invite dust
I like to keep tidy
But as long as my openness invites you
I’ll bear it
Watching the sand in the hourglass fall.
Did you ever say you’d return?
My friend erodes from being exposed so long
It seems I have become the hourglass
I sit counting down the years
Until the sand we let it blocks my doors.
