WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a multi-POV story from the perspective of three different people across the globe looking at the same thing.

What could they all be looking at and how might they percieve it differently?

Strings Of Fate.

Little Jessica was being pulled into the sky by an oversized kite.

Her father quickly grabbed at her leg and pulled the laughing child down into his arms, picking at the knot on her wrist. The knot came loose.

Before he could grab the string, the oversized kite was gone, just a shape in the windy sky.

“There goes fifty bucks. Let’s not tell your mom, huh?” He said sadly. Setting little Jessica on the ground, where she promptly went chasing a nearby butterfly.

The butterfly tattoo itched today as Katie plotted the course on the deck.

After the massive storm two days ago she had gotten a little lost but now knew where she was going.

“Captain.” Said one of her crew. “Look!”

She peered up at the mast and saw a oversized kite tangled up in the ropes. No wonder the sails had gotten stuck lately. She gestured at it. “Well? Get up there and sort it!”

As the crew member climbed she felt confused. It’s been at least a week since we had left port, how did it get there?

The crew member releases the kite and it suddenly soars away, surprising Kate. The crew member wobbles a bit, sending her heart into nervousness.

Mike was feeling nervous about proposing to his girlfriend.

Even more so since he was high up on the Eiffel Tower. “Please.” He murmured to the stars above him. “Please send me a sign if this is the right thing…”

“What?” His girlfriend asked. The stars were silent so he took a breath and dropped to one knee. “I know this is sudden -“

His romantic speech was suddenly caught short when a oversized kite came from no-where and slammed into him.

Luckily he didn’t go over the edge of the tower, but when staff at the restaurant pulled the kite from him, he realised the ring was gone.

“Where did the kite come from?!” His girlfriend shouted at the staff. He watched as she launched into an ugly tirade and felt a small smile form on his face as he looked at the exhausted oversized kite that lay limp on the floor.

Maybe it was the concussion, or maybe it was fate, but he thanked the fates for sending him this sign, even if it hurt and smelt funny.
