The Perfect Soldier

Princess Athen held her knees to her chest and she gazed out the four-story window.

She watched as the troops, including her brothers, marched out across the grassy plains. They were covered in suits of navy with black lines smudged beneath their eyes.

She didn’t fear for their safety, since the country of Rea was known for their weaponry and aggression.

She felt more envy than anything. She wanted to be coated in navy, with heavy boots tied tightly as she marched with the troops. She wanted guns tucked into her belt and strapped onto her shoulders.

There was nothing keeping Princess Athen from flying down the stairs to join the troops. She was certainly strong enough; her packed shoulders, athletic legs, and stable mind proved her worthy of bearing a weapon. She was skilled in combat, had an excellent shot, and was coordinated enough to fight horseback. The princess was also very calm on the battlefield. She was careful with striking and kept a clear mind.

The only thing holding her back from fighting, was that she was a girl.
