Before Tragedy Strikes
"What would you do if I died?" Raelyn asked suddenly, setting her book down on her lap and gazing over at her husband, who was laying in bed beside her. He furrowed his brows, saddened by the prospect of ever losing his dearest love.
"I don't really want to think about that..." He muttered softly.
"Would you remarry? I suppose you would have to, as the king and all—"
"I would never remarry." He interrupted firmly, shaking his head.
"But, we have yet to create an heir—?"
"I couldn't care less about the bloodline, Lyn." He sighed, smiling softly at her. "I will not walk this earth without you, and I will certainly not walk this earth with another woman."
Raelyn smiled back, blushing softly as he leaned over and sweetly kissed her cheek. "For the record, I wouldn't remarry either." She said, as Kiernan set down his book and blew out the candle beside him.
"I'm tempted to say that I would want you to remarry..." He said, and Raelyn glared at him. "I'm just saying, I would want you to be happy, Lynnie. I wouldn't want you to be alone, I know you're afraid of that."
"Well, that's sweet, but I wouldn't." She replied, snuggling up to him and laying her head on his chest. "If something happened to you, you would take my heart too. I could never love another."
"You're my everything." He smiled gently, tenderly stroking her cheek. "I could never love another, not even if I tried."
