We Fly

A question pondered for ages,

one who’s answer remains unknown.

When we’ve spent up life’s wages,

what future are we shown?

Some believe in an afterlife

with hopes of seeing a lost loved one again:

a child, a parent, a husband, a wife.

Eternities different from brain to brain.

Some believe in recarnation of spirit,

in souls reviving into a new body’s state.

Some people may fear it,

but others dream of such fate.

Some believe there is nothing

in store after we pass:

no pain, no suffering, and no loving.

This belief is scary alas,

But it’s comforting to wonder

if there is nothing after this,

if there’s no “down under”,

and no firey abyss.

The question to ask yourself is,

do we disappear,

or resurrect,

or do we fly?

Or is it something else all together?
