A Forgotten Sonnet

Alone in the dark I thought I heard you;

As if a distant memory came to life;

Alas a heart will lie and claim it to be true;

I wonder if you know the feeling of a knife.

I dreamt of a life where we were happy;

I awoke knowing it was fraudulent;

your eyes were too warm and sappy;

your words were soft and seemingly bent.

A heart can't forget a feeling so valuable,

Yet a mind shant deny the reality of a lie;

A heart that held no love, is truly intangible,

Yet a similar fate befalls a grim goodbye.

This sudden curiosity I must abate

And suffer under unrequited loves weight.
