The clouds hoarded the rain

and the ecosystem faltered

By one selfish decision

many lives were forever altered

The luscious lawn has browned

and the koi pond has dried

The daffodils and dandelions

have shriveled up and died

No herbage now for the rabbit

Homelessness takes the fish

The children have no flower

to blow upon and wish
