The Last Truths Standing
When all of the world has turned its back on me
Who is left to trust?
My tongue was held for far too long, but what I unleashed turned everyone’s eyes from me
No one will meet mine anymore
It’s a lonely world with the truth as your only companion
While it holds its many tongues,
It bites at my skin as a substitute for telling
One day I may bite back.
We are one in the same,
Many truths are held in our bellies and we only have ourselves to unload them onto
And even we spare ourselves from a constant stream of virtuosity
All other ears have been tuned to a frequency of ignorance
To protect their peace
While we sit here steeped in the static of their lies.
With every ear on a different wavelength,
The refusal of the truth sags in the air
Clings on their clothes, pulls at their thoughts
Yet, they still choose to lie.
When ignorance has consumed the truth,
Who is left to trust?
