Woodlands

Mysterious

Daunting, Taunting

The eerie cries drowned out by the silence

Perhaps the rays yet pierce the sky

Reason would say not a single light abounds

Enveloped in silence

No glimmer broke through the vault

The towering beams choking out the invader

What once contained branches of life

now turned to stone; cold, hard, petrified

A prayer arose to the cry of the onlookers

They had grown accustom to the prayers of those lost in their dwelling

They cried luring the lost to a sweat release

The only hope of wisdom

In the dark

In the still

In the Woodlands
