Frozen

Foley awoke slowly, hovering on the edge of awareness and oblivion. In that pleasant place between understanding that elephants couldn’t fly and believing he still had wings and was racing them, he moved to roll onto his side. Nothing happened.


His brow creased. Again, he tried to move. His body remained unresponsive.


With a rush of horror his eyes flew open, and the half-reality around him began to distort in response to his fear.


Oh god. Not again.
