POEM STARTER
Awakening
Write a poem about an awakening - it could be literal or metaphorical.
Open
I opened my eyes,
In the early dawn light
When I opened my eyes,
I knew something wasn’t right.
Things were everywhere,
All our thoughts scattered
It’s as if the world,
Forgot what mattered.
I closed my eyes,
As it became night.
Behind my eyelids,
I could still see the sight.
Of a world gone mad,
Every being to themself
A struggling society,
Fighting for it’s health.
I opened my eyes,
And saw the truth,
and I took up a call
To the old, to the youth.
Open your eyes
And see what I see
The world can be saved
The world is a ‘we'
