I’ll Let The World Burn

“What’s in a hero? A hero is a role model, protector, and sometimes just a random stranger on the street” He muttered softly as his fingers ran through his hair, the blades if grass poking his skin as he laid down and watched the stars beside his childhood friend’s grave.

“Yet.. despite being the world’s most powerful and influential hero..” His voice broke, unable to keep his tears from swelling in the corners of his eyes, “I couldn’t save you.”

“I knew you were suspicious of it all, I know I should’ve told you, I acknowledge that I’m too late to tell you now but.. you deserve to know,” He slowly stood up, eyes torn away from the sky as he turned to face the gravestone surrounded by flowers yet covered in dirt and vines, thorns pricking from the roses.

Beyond the graveyard the world around seems to be in flames, smoke traveling to the atmosphere as far screams and explosions ring out, some would take one glimpse and call it the end if the world.

Kneeling down and facing the grave with a bitter smile, the young hero spoke his truth, tears streaming down his cheeks, though that didn’t deter him in the slightest. “Let me introduce myself to you one last time.. My name is Azriel, and I’m known as the hero.. Tempest.. I love you dearly, you were my everything, the reason I became a hero to begin with..”

He paused for a slight moment, recalling all the fond memories of the two together, a warmth smile formed on his face, slowly contorting to an expression of anger as he also recalls the way no one cared about the death of his dearest friend, it was expected but.. to actually experience it was heartbreaking.

“So, if I have to, I’ll let the world burn for you, and I’ll burn along with it, wishing that I could.. hold you in my arms just one last time…”
