I could dream through lizards’ eyes the life I had at one time. The lizard enjoyed it but didn’t live it and turns out in some way the lizard was smarter.


“I’m a raspy, scaly, ash gray creature few think about unless I move quickly. In one memory pocket is the sound of waves, smell of saline, jolt of a fly, sunbeams. In another memory pocket are fast moving human feet, raucous voices, smoke in sunbeams, my own slowly shed skin coming off like limb casts one after the other. And oh - color and light in seeming infinite combinations. I have enough memory pockets stored like body fat to last an eternity. Memory - untouched by the mechanical by-rote human doings - is allowed to flourish in the garden maintained by lizard beings.”
