The Semicolon
Child: “what’s the tattoo on your wrist mean?,” the child asks the women
Asteria: “it’s means I’ve been through hardships.,” the women responds in a monotone voice
Child: “what kind of hardships?,” the child asks her curiosity getting the best of her
Asteria: “I really don’t want to talk about it.,” Asteria says with uneasiness
Child: “why not?,” the child ask stubborn to get an answer instead of just no
Asteria: “because it’s a personal matter.,” Asteria says
Suddenly the mom of the child comes to the child.
Mom: “sweetie are you bothering this young lady?,” the mom asks her daughter
Child: “no mama, I was just asking about her tattoo.” The child responded blissfully unaware of her naivness
Asteria: “uhm ma,am, actually your daughter did bother me a bit she kept asking me what kind of hardships I’ve gone through when I told her what the semicolon meant.,” Asteria says uncomfortably
Mom: “Oh I’m so sorry sweetheart, I sincerely apologize for my daughter’s actions. She can be a bit too curious at times.,” the mother responds with
Asteria: “it’s alright ma,am I understand she’s still learning about the world around her.,” Asteria says finishing off the conversation
