POEM STARTER

“You’ve come back, but I no longer need you.”
Write a poem or short story including this line.
My Dear Old Friend
You’ve protected me my whole life,
You’ve always been there,
Good or bad situations,
Since you’re always been fair,
But I grew since then,
And I don’t need you as much,
Only on occasions sometimes
Just when I’m down on my luck,
But now, unfortunately, while I’m doing real great,
Your presence is something I’m starting to hate,
Because now I know what I didn’t before,
You protected yes, but stunted me more
So it is time to move on with a new friend, you see,
In this new chapter of my life, I want to feel free
Not scared or stuck or outright alone
And that is the feeling you claimed was my home
I’m so sorry Fear, but I’m glad you’ve left
Because Happiness came and my needs are met,
My mind is protected while being courageous too
Something I never knew I could do
Listen Fear, if I can be so bold to explain how we end
I know it’s shocking from me since I used to always bend,
But it’s different this time, for both me and you because,
You’ve come back, but I’ve no longer need you
